About Us
Our group utilizes paleomagnetic, rock magnetic, and geomagnetic methods to shed light on the formation and evolution of planetary bodies. We explore the histories of magnetic fields on the Moon and other small solar system bodies to learn about dynamo generation and the duration and intensity of ancient magnetic fields within the solar nebula at the beginning of the solar system. We also use paleomagnetism to understand how impact-induced shock, heating, and subsequent hydrothermal activity physically and chemically modify planetary crusts and affect the recovery of the local biosphere at ground zero.
